DOVER (Tusco TV) - Dover High School alumni are getting a few more chances to revisit their alma mater as it’s replacement nears completion.

Superintendent Carla Birney says they’re hosting a series of weekend open houses starting this Saturday so people can walk through the current high building one more time.

"I think that as a community, we are looking forward to moving into the new school but we all have that nostalgia and fondness for the current school, and so we want to give people that one last chance before this school is empty and we start the abatement and demolition process," she says.

The open houses are this Saturday and September 28th, on both days from 2 to 4 pm, and Sunday, October 13th, from 5 to 7. She says these won’t be guided tours but there will be staff members there to assist as needed.

"Dover High School will be open. There will be people here to monitor and greet people and answer questions, but we would invite anyone from the public who is interested in taking a tour and walking through to come on those days or afternoons or evenings and tour the current high school," she says.

Birney says the transition to the new building will begin in the spring, with construction expected to wrap up in March.
