NEW PHILADELPHIA (Tusco TV) - Tuscarawas County commissioners are inviting the public to come and check out the recent improvements made to the county office building.

Joe Sciarretti says they’re having an open house there Thursday from 2 to 4 pm to show off the results of a more four-month-long wallpaper removal and painting project at the building that’s attached to the county courthouse on East High Avenue.

"It’s done, and it’s time to kinda show the people what their house looks like, what their office building looks like. We’re gonna have light refreshments and they’re welcome to come in, ask questions and see what’s been done," he says.

The approximately $120,000 project was overseen by Gor-Con Construction with the work completed by Choice One Interiors. Sciarretti says the cost was significant, but he thinks it was a worthwhile investment.

"It had to be done in terms of the wallpaper that was here and everything, again, to build up those walls they had to put at the very least four coats with the skim coat and so it’s gonna save money in the end because it’s done. If this ever gets painted long after I’m gone they won’t have to take that wallpaper off," he says.

Painters remained on-site Wednesday afternoon finishing up the commissioners’ second-floor board room. Sciarretti says they’ve been working overtime to get the room ready for Thursday’s open house.
