Coshocton, Ohio (WTUZ)  – The Coshocton County Sheriff’s Office is actively investigating a burglary that occurred early Wednesday morning in the city.

Officials received a call from a concerned neighbor when they noticed a home being broken into next door. Once deputies arrived at the residence in the 1800 block of Chestnut Street, they noticed the suspect vehicle leaving the immediate area.

Lt. Dean Hettinger says a traffic stop was initiated but the driver jumped out and fled on foot into a wooded area.

“The adult male passenger was taken into custody at the scene and the adult male that fled into the wooded area gave up to officers as Deputy Mox and K-9 Chili were nearing in on his location.”

Both men were taken into custody without incident and their names will be released once formal charges are filed.

“The Coshocton County Sheriff’s Office would like to remind the community of the importance of being a good neighbor, keeping an eye out in your neighborhood, and calling your local Sheriff’s Office early. If anyone would like information into your local Neighborhood Watch Program should contact your local Sheriff’s office.”
