The New Philadelphia Police Department is asking the public to help identify the owner of a bandana that was found near the area where a 70-year-old veteran was assaulted on August 11. 

New Philadelphia, Ohio - The New Philadelphia Police Department asking the public to help identify a person of interest in an assault that took place early Friday morning.

At approximately 5:05 a.m., an employee at Union Hospital called to report that a patient had been assaulted by three male subjects in the 100 block of Moore Avenue NW. 

The department posted on Facebook Friday that the case involves the theft of a Gray Verizon flip phone that may be located in the 700 block of Third Street NW. 

The incident is currently under investigation, and the department is looking for the owner of a red Zippo bandana that was recovered from the scene. 

The victim was a 70-year-old military veteran, according to his family members.
