New Philadelphia, Ohio - The New Philadelphia Health Department says it will begin spraying for mosquitoes this week in selected areas within city limits.

Spraying is being conducted in response to two pools of mosquitoes collected within city limits testing positive for West Nile Virus. The virus-positive traps were located in a cul-de-sac at the end of Commercial Avenue SW and along a city-owned access lane near Hillandale Road NE and the Oak Shadows garage.

Spraying will be conducted Wednesday and Thursday beginning at dusk in the Oak Shadows development and southwestern part of town and in the area of West High Avenue. Spraying will be postponed in the event of rain, high winds or cold temperatures. Individuals with respiratory issues are advised to remain indoors and take appropriate precautions while spraying is occurring.
