Dover, Ohio - The Tuscarawas County fair board is teaming up with Wendy's to offer free fair admission to military veterans.

Today only, veterans and active-duty service members who present a valid military id at the gate can attend the fair for the entire day at no cost.

Fair Board President Steve Cronebaugh says the fair's veterans day is a tribute to those that have served our country and protected our freedoms over the years.

“We want to give back to them a little bit and have them bring their families and just take a little time to recognize and honor them for their service over the years,” he says.

Veterans and other attendees will enjoy livestock shows and family-friendly entertainment throughout the entire day.

Senior Fair events for Monday include the Open Class Beef Show at 9 a.m. and Draft Horse & Draft Mule Halter Judging Show at 4 p.m.

Junior Fair events begin at 9 a.m. and include the Bred & Fed Steer Show; Beef & Kiddie Showmanship contest; Poultry, Kiddie & Old Timer’s Showmanship contest; Broiler Show; and Standard & Fancy Poultry Show. Evening events include the Market Lamb Show; Sheep Breeding Show; and Sheep, Kiddie and Old Timer’s Showmanship contest, all beginning at 6:30.

Closing out the evening will be a motocross racing event open to local riders of all ages and skill levels.

“There will be pro riders, amateurs, a schoolboy class all the way down to the pee-wee class, which we’ve had as young as 5-year-old riders race in,” says event superintendent Ed Corpman.

The races begin at 7:30 p.m. but fairgoers are encouraged to arrive early to take advantage of the free grandstand seating.

The event is sponsored by Wendy's, Pull-A-Part and Action Extreme Sports and is being filmed on location by Tusco TV.
