Coshocton, Ohio - A 29-year-old man from the Coshocton area is facing charges in connection with a Monday night home invasion at a city residence.

On October 29th just after 9 p.m., the Coshocton County Sheriff’s Office received a 911 call in reference to a home invasion in the 400 block of North Eighth Street.  As Deputies were arriving to the scene, a male suspect was seen fleeing from the residence. Joseph D. Brewer, 29, was taken into custody after a brief foot pursuit.  

According to a news release, the department conducted a preliminary investigation and determined that Brewer had kicked in the door to the residence and assaulted the male and female residents with a deadly weapon, intending to rob them.  The victims were able to wrestle the weapon away from the suspect.  

The male victim was transported to Coshocton Regional Medical Center by Coshocton County EMS and was later transferred to Grant Medical Center for treatment of his injuries.  The female victim was treated at the scene and released.  

Brewer was formally charged with aggravated burglary, a first-degree felony.  The investigation is ongoing and is being handled by  Coshocton County Sheriff’s Office and the Coshocton County Prosecutor’s Office.
