Dover, Ohio (WJER) - The community is getting an opportunity to pay respects as President George H.W. Bush.

Toland Herzig Funeral Home owner John Herzig says they now have a guestbook in their Famous Endings Museum at their Dover location. It’s available to sign for those who couldn’t make it to services.

“It’s really tough for our country, yeah the people in Washington DC and things, but a lot of people that highly respected President Bush and they want to do something in his honor,” he says.

Herzig says he's friends with one of the funeral directors for President Bush in Houston, who will get this guestbook to the Bush family.

“I know that Bob Boetticher probably when he sees them will let me know what they thought of it, but you never know whether you’re going to hear back or not,” he says.

Herzig says they did something similar when Senator John McCain passed away, and he was happy with that response.

“We had quite a few people stop by and they signed it, and I think we had five or six full register book pages of people who signed it, and some would make a little comment on what John McCain meant to them. That’s the kind of thing we want to do with President Bush,” he says.

Herzig says that guestbook is accessible weekdays from 9 to 5 pm through December 15th.
