New Philadelphia, Ohio - The Little Theatre of Tuscarawas County is looking for a worthy local cause to support with this year’s Community Caring Variety Show, and they’re asking the community for suggestions.

Secretary Kait Gallagher-Wilsterman says this year’s show is scheduled for March 16th at 7 pm. She says this is an event they host every year show to showcase homegrown talent while giving something back to the community.

“For Little Theatre, it’s our way to give back to the community who’s supported us through so much,” she says. “We give our space, and we donate our time and our money and everything for putting this on, and then get to give that to someone else in the community to benefit from.”

Gallagher-Wilsterman says they’re taking nominations on their website through this Sunday for this year’s charity.

“You can actually nominate any organization. Right now, I know Community Mental Healthcare, the United Way, the Rainbow Connection, the Tuscarawas County Humane Society are all in the running,” she says.

Gallagher-Wilsterman says this event typically raises about $2,000 for the selected charity.

“The tickets are $10 and then we run a 50/50 drawing. We have a wine pull, and we do a lottery ticket tree as well, so there are some raffles. We do a concession stand, those kinds of things,” she says.

Gallagher-Wilsterman says they also have auditions coming up this Sunday at 1 pm for local performers who would like to be featured in the show.

“[It’s] pretty much anything anybody wants to do,” she says. “We’ve had people do standup comedy. We have a sleight-of-hand magician, and he’s actually in 8th grade and he is awesome! We have singers. We have dancers. We’ve had comedy groups come. Pretty much if you can imagine it, we’d love to have you appear in our show.”

Tickets for the Community Caring Variety Show will be available at the door the night of the event.
