Tuscarawas County, Ohio (WJER) - Republican Al Landis will be making the jump from state representative to Tuscarawas County Commissioner after picking up about 63-percent of the vote against opponents Democrat Sharon Buckley-Mirhaidari and Independent Don Ackerman.

Landis says he’s thankful for the outcome and for the support he received in Tuscarawas County.

“To be over 60 percent in a three-way race, I couldn’t ask for more,” he says.

Landis says his priority through the end of the year will be to continue to look out for the best interests of the 98th District as he finishes up his responsibilities in the state house.

“Strange things can happen during lame duck, and I’ve gotta make sure our district is protected and the best interests of our constituents are served,” he says.

Landis will replace Tuscarawas County Commissioner Kerry Metzger, who will be retiring at the end of the year.
