SHERRODSVILLE (WJER) - Sherrodsville volunteer firefighters say the cause of an early morning house fire near Atwood Lake Tuesday is suspicious.

Captain Mike Booth says a neighbor called to report the fire around 5:30 am to the home at 9600 Lakewood Drive NE in Warren Township. He says they arrived to a fully-involved single-story home.

“It actually was slated to be torn down this week. It is under investigation. The state fire marshall has been called,” he says.

Booth says it took about an hour to get the fire out and then about another hour mopping up.

“We got a hose line and attacked it very quickly, got a quick knockdown on it, just a lot of hot spots. It got into the roofline and into the ceiling so it took us a while to get that knocked down,” he says.

There were no injuries. Booth says it appears the fire could have started in the living room area.
