Michelle Wolf trails Kenny Trimmer by two votes after Monday's certification in the race for the second of two open Claymont school board seats.

NEW PHILADELPHIA (WJER) - There has been an apparent outcome change in this month’s race for Claymont school board.

In the unofficial election night count, Michelle Wolf had a three-vote lead over Kenny Trimmer for the second seat up for vote. Tuscarawas County Board of Elections Director Gail Garbrandt says with the addition of absentee and provisional ballots during certification Monday, Trimmer has now pulled ahead of Wolf by two votes, 662 to 660.

“We actually sent out certified letters to the two candidates this morning, and the thing that was kind of interesting about that particular race is that it flipped from election night to the certification,” she says.

Garbrandt says the race is still close enough to require an automatic recount, set for Monday, November 25th.

“We’re not recounting the whole election so it should take probably a couple hours but what we will do is we will pull all of the ballots from the race and we will rescan them,” she says.

Garbrandt says the board will hold is required post-election audit after that, on November 26th, where they will randomly recount the vote in three precincts for the local educational service center school board race.
