UHRICHSVILLE (Tusco TV) -

Unrichsville Fire Department responded to a confirmed duplex fire with entrapment at 439 East 4th St. early Sunday morning. Fire Chief Justin Edwards says the department was fortunate to have enough firefighters available to deal with the blaze efficiently.

“We had a little better staffing than normal yesterday morning. We had five guys at the station and two volunteers who stopped in,” Edwards says.

Edwards says a search was conducted quickly when the department arrived on the scene. The search confirmed no one was in the building at the time of the fire, but couldn’t confirm its cause.

“We extinguished the fire fairly quickly and right now, it’s being ruled undetermined. We cannot rule out the electrical in the house,” Edwards says.

Edwards says that while no one was inside the building, all occupants will have to seek shelter elsewhere as clean up and the investigation continues.

“The fire was contained to one duplex; the other will have to relocate because they had to kill the power to the entire structure,” Edwards says.

As of Monday, the total financial cost of the blaze is still undetermined.
