New Philadelphia, Ohio  (WTUZ) – A 25-year-old is facing charges after an accidental shooting and theft. Last weeks shooting in the 400 block of North Broadway resulted in Frank Heldt accidentally shooting himself in his lower leg. Prior to this, the  New Philadelphia Police Department reports that Heldt and another man had stolen a personal safe at a residence in the 700 block of North Broadway. After using a circular saw to cut the safe they retrieved a handgun, and due to being under the influence of narcotics Heldt shot himself. A report has been sent to the prosecutors office for expected charges of theft of a firearm, safe cracking, and having a weapon while under disability. Along with Heldt, who is currently in the Tuscarawas County Jail, two other men are expected to be charged. - Mary Alice Reporting
