New Philadelphia, Ohio - Police say 34-year-old Dover woman was taken into custody Friday after a pursuit that ended on West High Avenue.

The incident began shortly after 2 pm when the woman created a disturbance at a business on Oxford Street SW in Dover and left heading northbound on North Wooster Avenue in a white SUV.

A Dover unit located the vehicle on Tuscarawas Avenue near Wabash Avenue. The officer initiated a traffic stop, and a chase ensued with units from Dover and New Philadelphia pursuing the vehicle as it reached speeds in excess of 50 miles per hour.

The vehicle approached the five points intersection and turned westbound on West High Avenue before ultimately coming to a stop near the Bluebell Drive intersection.

When officers approached the SUV, the driver locked the doors and refused to get out of the vehicle. The New Philadelphia police ended up having to break a window to remove her. No injuries were reported.

The woman was taken into custody and is being held at the county jail pending her initial court appearance. Formal charges have not yet been filed.
