Dover, Ohio (WJER) - School district officials have some details for Dover parents with elementary students about where their kids will be heading next school year.

On Monday, the Dover school board approved a plan to house all pre-K-1 classrooms at South school, grades 2-3 at East school, and grades 4-5 at Dover Avenue. Superintendent Carla Birney says they wanted to make sure parents had as much time as possible to make any scheduling changes ahead of the new school year.

“This is the first step in the reconfiguration, and we want to give this information to our community as quickly as we can,” she says. “We know that there are a lot of people out there that are anxious about where their children are going to be going next year and who the principal is going to be.”

Birney says they’ve chosen Tracy Murphy as the South school principal, Zach Zesiger as East principal, and Renee Sattler as the principal for Dover Avenue. She says they are confident about those selections.

“Any of them could have taken on any role, but as we sat and we discussed strengths and weaknesses, areas of interest, and all of those factors, our administrative team felt that these were the best placements for the principals,” she said.

Birney says they are still working out the details to their transportation plan and will work to get that information out to the community as soon as possible.
