Dover, Ohio (WJER) - City police are asking for the public’s help in identifying a suspect in a coin machine shakedown.

Dover Police Detective Jason Peters says a man stole all the quarters from a coin machine at the Finish Line laundromat on East Second Street between 7 and 7:30 on Saturday morning.

“The owner at the laundromat had come into the police station, said someone had shaken his coin machine enough to take all the quarters out,” he says.

Peters says early estimates suggest the man stole 200 to 300 coins, worth about $50 to $80.

Peters says a surveillance video and pictures showing the suspect are posted on the Dover Police Department’s Facebook page. He described the suspect as a tall, thin white male with sandy brown hair wearing a gray sweatshirt, jeans and cowboy boots.

Police ask anyone with information to call the Dover Police Department at 330-364-5533.
