Dover, Ohio - Authorities are investigating a weekend crash in Lawrence Township that claimed the life of a 25-year-old Dover man.

According to the New Philadelphia Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol, Brandon Goodman was driving a 1998 Jeep Cherokee southwest on Township Road 387 on Saturday morning at approximately 1:42 a.m. when the vehicle traveled off the left side of the road, striking a mailbox and an embankment. The vehicle overturned multiple times and ejected the driver, who pronounced dead at the scene.

Troopers say Goodman was not wearing a safety belt, and that alcohol is believed to be a factor.

A 31-year-old male passenger was wearing a safety belt at the time of the accident. He was transported to Cleveland Clinic Union Hospital with minor injuries.

Assisting at the scene were the Bolivar Fire Department and the Tuscarawas County Sheriff’s Department.
