DOVER (Tusco TV) - The city of Dover was named one of the best in America to reside, based on a national ranking by the website, 247wallst.com. Mayor Richard P. Homrighausen says the city is honored by the distinction.

“It was a study done by 24/7 Wall St. And they ranked the top fifty places to live in the United States, and Dover was ranked 30th.”

Homrighausen says he first learned of the ranking from the 24/7 Wall St. site, which listed Dover above cities such as Bismarck, North Dakota, San Francisco, California, and Denver, Colorado.

“The achievement was a complete surprise to me, but one that we’re very proud of.”

Amongst a list of things Homrighausen says he believes makes Dover great, he includes low crime rate, excellent health care, good schools, and property taxes. These are in addition to the criteria considered by 24/7 Wall St.

“There’s a whole set of criteria, twenty-five benchmarks that they use; things like affordability, the economy, quality of life, unemployment. . . a whole list of things that they looked at.”

Asked if he thought Dover could climb even higher on the list in the future, Homrighausen says he’s hopeful.

“Twenty-ninth or higher, yeah; that would be great.”
