NEW PHILADELPHIA - A local trooper is being recognized for his outstanding service at the New Philadelphia Highway Patrol Post. 

25-year-old Nicholas Sutterluety has been selected by his fellow troopers and dispatchers as the post's 2019 Trooper of the Year in recognition of his leadership abilities, professional ethics, courteous treatment of others, enthusiastic work attitude and cooperation with supervisors, peers and the public.

Sutterluety is a 2012 Dover High School graduate who has served in the Ohio National Guard since 2013. He joined the Highway Patrol in 2015 and has been with the local post since transferring from the Columbus Metro Post in 2018.  He currently resides in Dover with his wife, Kayla, and their son.
