Sugarcreek, Ohio - Sugarcreek’s newest doughnut shop is open for business and ready to welcome the community this Saturday during its Grand Opening celebration.

From 5 a.m. to noon, the team at the new Dough Co. on Dover Road will be serving up free glazed donuts and free coffee while supplies last to celebrate the expansion of the family-owned business to its second location.

Owned by the Bowers family from Joshua, Texas, Dough Co. has been serving Tuscarawas County from its original location on the Boulevard in Dover since 2016 and opened its second location in Sugarcreek in September.

Langston Bowers is one of seven family members who own and operate Dough Co. He says his family decided to open its first store in Dover because of its small-town feel, which reminded them of their hometown back in Texas.

“I think the reason we fell in love with it is because it reminded us so much of our small town that we grew up in,” he says. “It definitely has a small-town feel where you know just about everybody, everybody knows everybody, everybody knows you, everybody’s a familiar face, everybody if very inviting and welcoming, and we just really like that as well as just the surrounding areas and the history of the area here.”

For the second location, the family was searching for a community with a similar feel and found Sugarcreek to be a perfect fit.

“Sugarcreek was just kind of the next area that was similar to Dover and New Philadelphia, the same kind of atmosphere, community, and we just really wanted to move into that area,” he says.

Bowers says the grand opening celebration is a way for the family to thank the community for its support.

“We just want people to come in and kind of celebrate with us. We’re going to have some giveaways where you can put in for a drawing and you can win a shirt or a gift card, different things like that, and we just want everybody to come out and kind of take a look at the shop and see our new location and kind of enjoy this experience with us,” he says.

Bowers notes that the celebration is somewhat overdue being that the store has already been open for several months but says the family hopes to make up for it by holding the event in conjunction with the annual observance of Sweetest Day.

“Hopefully, everybody will be coming in on the holiday anyway to get something for their special someone, and then we’ll get the word out as well,” he says.

Dough Co. is located at 681 Dover Road NE in Sugarcreek. Store hours are Monday through Saturday from 5 a.m. to noon and Sundays from 7 a.m. to noon.
