New Philadelphia, Ohio (WJER) - The Tuscarawas County Public Library is again hosting a competitive run that tests your fitness and stomach capacity this weekend.

Public Relations Associate Molly Calhoun says they are partnering with Dough Co. again for the 2nd-annual Doughnut Fun Run Challenge where participants have to run to Tuscora Park, eat six whole donuts, and then run back to the library within 45 minutes.

“A lot of places are doing 5k’s, and they’re all really fun. We just really wanted to find a way to set ourselves apart, do something fun that maybe people haven’t had a chance to do in the area,” she says.

Dough Co.’s Langston Bowers says the runners had some creative techniques for eating the doughnuts last year (like squishing the donuts together or dunking them in water.)

“I didn’t know this beforehand, but the method is to squish them all down like a pancake,” he says. “Some people were even Kobayshi-style, dunking them in water and just getting them down as quick as they could.”

Same-day registration begins at 9 am and the race begins at 10. Proceeds from the event go toward programming offered at the different library branches.
