New Philadelphia, Ohio (WJER) - The county’s Emergency Management Agency director is asking for people to report any storm damage from Sunday.

Alex McCarthy says the National Weather Service issued the tornado warning after spotting a rotation on its Doppler radar. McCarthy says he hasn’t heard of any tornado sightings here in the county, but he has seen some scary photos posted on social media.

“We know last night there were a lot of reports coming in about trees, tree limbs down, as well as some wires down cast sporadically across the county,” he says. “I know the hardest hit areas appear to be in the Dover area as well as Gnadenhutten.”

McCarthy says they are now going out to survey the damage.

“We’ll be meeting with local officials just to kind of have a look at some of the areas, see if there were any homes that were significantly impacted and see if there’s anything we can do to help,” he says.

McCarthy says they’ll then send the National Weather Service pictures and information on any damage today, to help determine if there were any tornadoes.
