Tuscarawas County, Ohio - The Tuscarawas County Board of Commissioners have nominated Healthy Tusc for the 2019 Dr. Nathan Davis Award.

Recognized nationally, the Dr. Nathan Davis Awards are one of the most prestigious honors extended to individuals and organizations for outstanding endeavors advancing public health. Established in 1989 and named in honor of American Medical Association Dr. Nathan Davis, the awards recognize those who have made significant contributions promoting the art and science of medicine and the betterment of public health.

Because of the hard work and dedication that Healthy Tusc has demonstrated in the area, the Tuscarawas County Commissioners have nominated the organization for the Outstanding Non-Governmental Public Service Award. The award recognizes organizations that are not directly part of a government agency or an individual who holds a government office.

Healthy Tusc is a collaborative effort of community partners promoting policy, environmental, and system changes, across the community and state, and, in turn, increasing access to healthy food and physical activity in the area.

Commissioner Chris Abbuhl said that since its founding, Healthy Tusc has routinely demonstrated a strong commitment to the betterment of public health and the development of nutritional and physical activities in Tuscarawas County.

"Because of this dedication and outstanding service to our community, we are proud to nominate Healthy Tusc for this
prestigious honor,” he said.
