DOVER (WJER) - The Tuscarawas County Art Guild is giving the community a taste of locally made art while also helping one student pursue their passion in the field.

Member Samantha White says their Art Festival scholarship fundraiser at New Dawn Retirement Center will feature paintings, pottery, and crafts for sale by area artists as a way to raise money for a student hoping to further their creative education. White says the Saturday event features local talent from the county and surrounding areas that will also benefit from their sales to continue their own passions.

“Also just to bring awareness to the arts and then supporting our upcoming youth to be able go and pursue their own careers, whether that’s media design or painting, pottery, jewelry,” she says.

White says the event runs from 10 am to 4 pm with entertainment, food and raffle giveaways throughout.

“Little Theatre donated tickets. Martinelli Pools and Spas donated a chocolate basket. Canal Street Diner donated a dinner. Artists have donated jewelry and piece they’ve made,” she says.

percent of the art sales will be going towards the art scholarship, as well as all the money raised through food sales and the raffle.
