New Philadelphia, Ohio (WJER) - Buckeye Career Center is inviting people thinking about a job switch to stop by today and see what’s available.

Curriculum Director Frank Polen says they are hosting an adult education open house in the cafeteria from 4:30 to 6:30 pm.

“We’ll have tables with representatives [including] our teachers, current and past students from our eight full-time programs that we’re currently running,” he says. “Also, we’ll have a table that will have information for all our part-time classes, our student service director there to talk about financial aid and how you can apply and pay for these.”

Polen says that includes a course to put people on the path to a career in law enforcement.

“One of our full-time programs is the Ohio Peace Officer Training Academy. There, they have an opportunity to be eligible for that academy certification, which would then make them employable," he says.

Polen says people who attend tonight can also have the application fee waived to enroll in the programs.
