Dennison, Ohio - Five Claymont employees have been relieved of their duties with pay pending the outcome of an internal investigation into conduct in violation of a district policy.

According to an emailed statement from the district’s Board of Education dated October 6, the ongoing investigation stems from complaints brought before the board regarding teachers allegedly engaging in a pattern of exchanging inappropriate text messages during the school day.

The staff members were relieved of their duties on October 4. On the following afternoon, the board met in executive session to discuss the allegations against the teachers and the investigation.

In the statement, the board stated that the investigation will take some time and must be conducted “in a manner that preserves the rights of all involved parties,” therefore, they could not comment further on the matter at this time.
