Uhrichsville, Ohio - Within hours of completing a controlled burn training exercise in Dennison, firefighters from the Twin Cities were called back into action for a confirmed structure fire at a vacant home in Uhrichsville.

Just before 4 p.m. on Saturday, the Uhrichsville Fire Department received a call about smoke coming from the upstairs windows of a two-story home in the 400 Block of West Fourth Street.

Firefighters from the Dennison, Uhrichsville, and New Philadelphia Fire Department responded to the scene and located a small fire in one of the second-story bedrooms, according to Uhrichsville Fire Chief Justin Edwards.

He says it took about 15 minutes to knock out the fire, which caused an estimated $25,000 in damage to the structure and $1,000 in damage to its contents.

Edwards notes that no one had been living in the house prior to the fire although it appeared that somebody had been coming and going. The property is owned by Tax Ease Funding REO, LLC, of Dallas, Texas, and was listed for sale with McInturf Realty.

Edwards says investigators were called to the scene and could not determine the cause of the fire or rule out electrical equipment in the room.
