New Philadelphia, OH - Buckeye Career Center is again hosting a free cross-country race for young runners in Tuscarawas County and beyond. 

The Buckeye Biddy Race will be held on Thursday, September 13, at Buckeye Career Center in New Philadelphia.

The race is open to boys and girls in kindergarten through sixth grade and will follow a course around the career center’s Natural Resources ponds and along the path that cuts through a wooded clearing. 

Same-day registration begins at 4:15 p.m. with a DJ and inflatables opening at 5.

Race times as follows: 

  • K-3 girls - 5:30 p.m.
  • K-3 boys - 5:50 p.m.
  • Grades 4-6 girls - 6:10 p.m 
  • Grades 4-6 boys - 6:30 p.m.

In addition to the free race and inflatables, each participant will receive a hot dog and drink, along with a medal. The top 10 finishers will receive special medals and school district team winners will receive trophies. 

The cross country course is designed around the Buckeye Career Center campus and created by Energy Operations students. Race Penguin is the official timing company for the event.

Buckeye Career Center students will staff a concession stand, provide water to racers, and showcase health-related demonstrations inside the cafeteria.
