New Philadelphia, Ohio – Another group of Buckeye Career Center students is advancing to state-level competition. 

The following students recently competed at the HOSA Future Health Professionals regional competition at Canton South High School and are moving on to the HOSA Ohio State Leadership Conference April 9-10th in Columbus:  Medical Spelling: 1st place – Jeffrey Reed (Pharmacy Tech/New Phila); Medical Terminology: 3rd place- Hayleigh Scheufler (Intro to Nursing/Hiland); Nutrition: 1st place – Katelyn Slone (Exercise Science/Strasburg), and 3rd place – Jeremiah Roach (Exercise Science/ Conotton Valley); Human Growth & Development Knowledge Test: 3rd place – Haleigh Pompey (Intro to Nursing/New Phila); Nursing Assisting: 2nd place – Katelyn Maurer (Intro to Nursing/Garaway); Physical Therapy: 3rd place – Michaela Dumont (Exercise Science/Claymont); CPR/1st Aid: 2nd place – Kim Halsey (Exercise Science/Newcomerstown), and Jakob Rosenbohm (Exercise Science/Conotton Valley); Epidemiology: 1st place – Amber Jones (Exercise Science/Strasburg) and 2nd place – Alex Williams (Exercise Science/Tuscarawas Valley); Public Health: 2nd place team – Sasha Hupp (Intro to Nursing/Claymont), Emilee Rouse (Intro to Nursing/Conotton Valley), and MaKayla Weitbrecht (Intro to Nursing); Interviewing Skills: 2nd place – Zoie Slutz (Medical Assisting/Conotton Valley); Researched Persuasive Speaking: 2nd place – Sydney Zinkon (Exercise Science/Ridgewood) ; Biomedical Debate: 3rd place team – Shayla Baker (Intro to Nursing/Indian Valley), Marque Dorsey (Intro to Nursing/Tuscarawas Valley), and Michaela Poole (Intro to Nursing/Claymont); HOSA Bowl: 2nd place team – Iris Austin (Intro to Nursing/New Philadelphia), Chloe Jeffers (Intro to Nursing/New Philadelphia), and Natashia Masters (Pharmacy Technician/New Phila). Also competing at state are Josh Shaffer (Exercise Science/New Philadelphia), Joanna Hammel (Exercise Science/Tuscarawas Valley), Maleah Stansbery (Exercise Science/Indian Valley) in HealthCare Issues Exam.
