SUGARCREEK (Tusco TV) - Pirates scorekeepers are breaking in some new technology during this season’s home football games.

Garaway Superindent Jim Millet says their stadium on Dover Road has a new video scoreboard valued at nearly $100,000 at no cost to taxpayers thanks to their athletic boosters group and community supporters. Millet says it’s a fantastic addition that allows them to showcase a lot more than just scores.

"The biggest improvement of the scoreboard is it has a large video board on it so it allows us to display videos, display photos of our students, display messages, advertisements, live video, all sorts of things," he says.

And Millet says its usefulness goes beyond football season.

"It’s not only going to benefit our football team on Friday nights obviously but any other activity that we have at the stadium such as graduation, our band shows, all sorts of uses," he says.

Millet says the scoreboard was installed earlier this fall, but he says the group wanted to make sure all the bugs were worked out before donating it to the district.
