NEW PHILADELPHIA - Buckeye Career Center is giving prospective students a chance to learn more about its new Welding Technologies Adult Education program.

The career center will be highlighting the new full-time program during an Adult Education open house on June 11th from 4:30 to 6:30 pm.

Director of Adult Education, Curriculum, & Instruction Frank Polen believes the program will be beneficial to area companies and residents. 

“During recent visits to many of our local manufacturing-based companies, we heard of one common theme and that was the need for more certified welders,” he says. “With the addition of an Adult Education Welding Technologies program, we hope to become the premier
training center for years to come as participants will have the opportunity to gain AWS Certifications."

BCC also offers part-time welding courses for those seeking specific credentials including GMAW, SMAW, FCAW, and GTAW. 

The open house is for adults of all ages wanting to start a new career or learn additional skills. Those who attend can learn more about Welding Technologies and other full-time programs including Cosmetology; Dental Assisting; Heating, Ventilating, Air Conditioning, & Refrigeration; Heavy Equipment/ CLD A Operator; Medical Assisting; Medical Office & Billing Specialist; Law Enforcement Training Academy; and Utility Lineworker. Cosmetology is a two-year program with summers off while the other full-time offerings take nine months to complete. 

Admissions representatives will also be on-hand to discuss financial aid and part-time courses. The $50 registration fee for Adult Education classes will be waived for any prospective student who registers for classes the night of the open house.
