Dover, Ohio  (WTUZ) – Officials are looking for information regarding a severely decomposed body that was discovered Wednesday evening in Dover.

Dover Police Detective Captain Chad Mower said the body was found west of West 8thStreet and Center around 5:30 pm by two children who were playing in the woods. 

The body was transported to the Stark County Coroner’s Office for an autopsy.

“Locally, Dr. Cameron is working in conjunction with Dr. Robinson of the Stark County Coroner’s Office. After the autopsy, they were able to tell me that this John Doe is, in fact, a male.”

The Stark County Coroner said there were no signs of trauma but they are still unable to identify the age, race, and identity of the body.

“We ask that anybody in the community that may have any information on someone that is missing or this subject, feel free to call us here at the Dover Police Department.”

Captain Mower said there were no signs of foul play at the scene.
