New Philadelphia, Ohio (WJER) - The Tuscarawas County Bar Association is partnering with Southeastern Ohio Legal Services to present People’s Law School featuring local attorneys and experts.

Common Pleas Court Administrator Elizabeth Stevenson says the event to be held on Thursday, April 4th, will provide information on criminal, civil and family/domestic relations legal issues in hourly sessions beginning at 6pm. (She says this will be a good way for people to get information, interact with the speakers and ask questions).

“I think it’s always good to get information live. It’s always good to not just rely upon the internet, and this can be a dialogue. We’ll learn about a few different areas of the law and then the people can actually ask questions,” she says.

Stevenson says the sessions will offer information that is timely and specific so people know what legal rights they have in Ohio and how they can protect them.

“This is Ohio-specific information, and a lot of times people get misinformation from their friends or neighbors or from the internet, and it might not be specific to their situation or to Ohio,” she says.

The free program will be held at the First Christian Church at 104 Third St. NW in New Philadelphia. Those who want to attend can register by email to newphiladelphia@seols.org.
