Canton, Ohio (WJER) - A Canton area man has died six months after falling and becoming seriously injured performing in Trumpet in the Land.  

Sixty-three-year-old Doug Downie tripped and hit his head on a railing at Schoenbrunn Amphitheatre on July 3rd, damaging his spinal cord and leaving him a quadriplegic. He had been battling complications and other illnesses up until his death Monday.

An online GoFundMe account in Downie’s name has raised more than $17,000 to assist his family with medical expenses.
