Tusky Valley girls, Ridgewood's Zimmer advance to state; Dover girls, N.P. individuals go to district

CAMBRIDGE, Ohio - The Tusky Valley Trojans won the Division II District Tournament on Wednesday at Cambridge Country Club, advancing T.V. to next week's State Tournament at The Ohio State University's Gray Course.

The Trojans shot 321, with Susan Thompson (74, +2) leading the way for Tusky. Sydney Clements and Keegan Selinsky (both with 81s, +9) and Kylie Rohr (85, +13) scored for T.V.

The Trojans were the only team to advance to state, and the lone qualifying individual was Ridgewood senior Lexi Zimmer, who carded an 83 (+11).

Garaway finished as the runners-up (366) and was led by Sydni Prysi (87, +15) and followed by Sammi Miller (90, +18), Mikayla Weaver (94, +22), and Tori Miller (95, +23).

The tournament's final team results were as shown below, along with each of the squads' top individual score:

1. Tusky Valley - 321 (Susan Thompson, 74, +2)

2. Garaway - 366 (Sydni Prysi, 87, +15)

3. Carrollton - 381 (Erin Shockey, 86, +14)

4. Indian Valley - 410 (Jamisyn Hartzler, 98, +26)

5. Claymont - 434 (Meg Harmon, 104, +32)

6. River View - 441 (Madalyn Cutshall, 93, +21)

Strasburg's Taylor Starkey (93, +21), Tuscarawas Central Catholic's Piper Olson (94, +22), and Newcomerstown's Melanie Gibson (98, +26) also participated in the tournament.

Dovers girls, N.P. individuals go to districts

Over at River Greens in West Lafayette, the Dover Tornadoes advanced to the Division I District Tournament on Tuesday, while New Philadelphia junior Sydney Devore and qualified for the next round as an individual, as well as sophomore Emma Menpace.

The Tornadoes' leading scorer was Riley Schie (90, +18), who was followed by scores from Ava Adams (105, +33), Olivia Patton (122, +50), and Kiley McIntosh (128, +56).

Dover (445) finished in second place in the districts, which were won by John Glenn (391).

Senior Lane Jordan (95, +23) led the way for the Muskies.

For the second consecutive year, Devore won the individual sectional title, this time with a score of 82 (+10), while Menpace posted an 85 (+13), just besting Tri-Valley's Makayla Hutchison and West Holmes freshman Kenzie Woods (both had 87s, +15).

The Division I District Tournament, to be played at EagleSticks Golf Club in Zanesville, will take place on Monday, Oct. 12, with the winning teams and individuals to advance to the Gray Course down in Columbus.
