Browns activate Myles Garrett, place Ronnie Harrison (shoulder) on IR

CLEVELAND, Ohio - The Cleveland Browns activated defensive end Myles Garrett off their reserve/COVID-19 list on Tuesday, returning the team's best pass rusher to the football field.

However, as Garrett makes his return to play, safety Ronnie Harrison was placed on the IR with a shoulder injury. Harrison is expected to miss 4-6 weeks, although he may return for a potential playoff game, should the Browns qualify for the postseason.

Harrison injured his shoulder early in the first quarter of the Browns' win Sunday over the Jacksonville Jaguars and did not return for the remainder of the contest. He has started the last six games since being acquired via a trade from the Jaguars last offseason. Back on Oct. 11, in his first start, Harrison picked off Colts quarterback Phillip Rivers for a 47-yard touchdown return.

Garrett returns after missing the last two games. Before going onto the COVID list, Garrett was the league's leading sack leader at 9.5 sacks. He still leads the NFL with 4 forced fumbles.

Tedric Thompson, a safety formerly with the Kansas City Chiefs, was claimed off waivers by the Browns on Monday. Thompson has 16 career starts since entering the league in 2017.

Coach Kevin Stefanski said Monday that Cleveland is also unlikely to get Pro Bowl cornerback Denzel Ward back for this weekend. Ward missed Sunday's game with a calf injury.
